Please contact me at fkearns @ gmail.com if you are interested in working with me. I generally focus on science and research communication and engagement, particularly for more advanced practitioners and with an emphasis on tools for our times -- relating, listening, working with conflict, and understanding trauma. I also have broad expertise in water, wildfire, and climate work, as well as communications approaches including writing, social media, and podcasting. I have worked with federal and state agencies, non-profits, academics, fellowship programs, and more to tailor my offerings to their needs.
Talks:
I give regular talks on science and research communication and engagement that generally fit within an hour timeframe with me talking anywhere from 30-50 minutes.
Training:
I offer training in science and research communication and engagement, and with an in-depth focus on the skills I cover in Getting to the Heart of Science Communication: relating, listening, working with conflict, and understanding trauma. These trainings are generally in 90 minutes chunks using interactive, paired, and small group exercises.
In-depth workshops:
I offer longer workshops from a half-day to two days. These longer timeframes are generally for groups and institutions that are doing in-depth, strategic planning and training and involve more interactive and comprehensive work than what can be covered in a talk or training session.
Consultation:
I am available for consulting opportunities in science and research communication and engagement, with a particular focus on environment issues including water, wildfire, and climate change. This is generally for individuals and groups with a particular project or goal that they are working toward.
